Uni-tube Figure 8 Cable GYXTC8S

Aerial Fiber Cable

Uni-tube Figure 8 Cable GYXTC8S

The GYXTC8S uni-tube figure-8 cable combines a center-tube fiber core with an integrated steel messenger wire in a compact, self-supporting assembly. The uni-tube design reduces cable diameter and weight compared to stranded designs, making it faster to install and easier to handle on poles. Rated for aerial spans up to 200m, it is the cost-effective choice for rural access networks, telecom pole routes, and campus aerial distribution where fiber counts (2–24) and span requirements are modest.

The Mini Figure 8 Fiber Optic Cable Aerial Uni Tube GYXTC8S is a specialized type of outdoor fiber optic cable designed for aerial installations. The cable is named “mini” figure 8 due to its compact and smaller cross-sectional shape, resembling the number “8.” This design allows two fiber optic cable cores to be placed side by side within the same cable, providing an efficient use of space. The fibers, 250μm,are positioned in a loose tube made of a high modulus plastic, the tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. The two sides PSP are longitudinally applied over the outer loose tube. Steel wires and loose tubes filled with water proof compound to ensure compact and longitudinally water blocking ,this part of cable accompanied with the stranded wires as the supporting part are completed with a polyethylene(PE) sheath to be figure 8 structure.

Characteristics

  • High tensile strength of stranded wires meets self-supporting requirements and reduces installation cost
  • Good mechanical and temperature performance
  • High strength loose tube that is hydrolysis resistant
  • Special tube filling compound ensures critical protection of fiber
  • PSP (steel-polyethylene laminate) moisture barrier enhances waterproofing
  • Uni-tube design: small diameter, light weight, and easy installation
  • Long delivery length and competitive price

Application

Aerial self-supporting installation for overhead telecom and data networks. Suitable for:

  • Rural access and distribution networks
  • Short-span pole-to-pole routes (50-150m typical)
  • Campus and industrial park aerial distribution
  • Cost-sensitive fiber deployments with modest fiber counts (2-24)

Standard

  • YD/T 1155-2001
  • IEC 60794-1

Key Features

  • Integrated steel messenger wire — self-supporting, no lashing
  • Uni-tube (center tube) design for minimal diameter and weight
  • Water-blocking compound and tape for reliable outdoor performance
  • PE outer sheath with carbon black for UV resistance
  • Aerial spans up to 200m with proper sag
  • Supports 2–24 fibers — ideal for access and distribution

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the advantage of uni-tube vs stranded figure-8?

Uni-tube (GYXTC8S) is more compact, lighter, and faster to install — ideal for lower fiber counts (2–24) and shorter spans. Stranded (GYFTC8S) supports higher fiber counts (up to 144) and is preferred for backbone applications. Uni-tube also offers easier mid-span access for drop connections.

2. What span distances can GYXTC8S support?

Standard span distances are 50–150m between poles. Maximum span depends on NESC loading district (wind/ice conditions) and messenger wire diameter. Our engineering team can provide span vs. sag tables for your specific route conditions.
