FTTH Drop Cable

FTTH Outdoor Drop Cable GJXCH

The FTTH Outdoor Drop Cable GJXCH is purpose-built for the last-mile connection in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks — bridging the gap from the distribution point to the subscriber premises. Its signature butterfly-shaped cross-section features a central optical fiber flanked by two parallel FRP strength members and an optional steel wire messenger, providing excellent crush resistance and tensile strength in a lightweight, easy-to-handle design. The LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) outer sheath ensures safety in residential environments, making it the ideal choice for outdoor drop wiring in modern FTTH deployments.

FTTH Outdoor Drop Cable is a special fiber optical cable for outdoor wiring of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. The optical fiber unit is positioned in the centre. Two parallel Fiber Reinforced Plastics (FRP, STEEL WIRE) are placed at the two sides. A steel wire as the additional strength member is also applied. Then the cable is completed with a black or colored LSZH sheath. The outer sheath of the FTTH Outdoor Drop Cable is made of weather-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials, which can operate stably for a long time in the outdoor environment and protect the internal structure of the optical cable from external influences.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is FTTH drop cable used for?

FTTH drop cable is the final segment in a fiber-to-the-home network, connecting the distribution point (typically a pole or pedestal) to the subscriber's home or building. It's designed for outdoor exposure and must withstand weather, UV, and temperature variations while being flexible enough for residential installation.

2. What does GJXCH mean in the cable designation?

GJXCH follows Chinese standard nomenclature: G=optical fiber, J=outdoor, X=butterfly-shaped, C=steel wire messenger, H=LSZH sheath. This naming convention helps identify the cable construction at a glance.

3. What is the difference between GJXCH and GJXFH?

GJXCH includes a steel wire messenger for extra tensile strength, making it suitable for aerial drop spans between poles. GJXFH omits the steel wire and uses only FRP strength members, making it lighter and more suitable for duct or direct-burial drop installations.

4. Can this cable be buried directly in the ground?

While the GJXCH is primarily designed for aerial outdoor drops, it can be used in ducts for underground drops. For direct burial applications, we recommend using a cable with additional armoring or a protective conduit to prevent damage from digging or rodent activity.
