Duct Underground Armored Cable GYTS

Underground Fiber Cable

Duct Underground Armored Cable GYTS

The GYTS is a versatile stranded loose tube armored fiber optic cable designed for outdoor duct installations in metro, access, and long-haul networks. Its steel wire central strength member and corrugated PSP (Polyethylene-Steel-Polyethylene) armor provide robust protection against moisture ingress, rodent damage, and mechanical stress. The 100% jelly-filled cable core and water-blocking design ensure reliable long-term performance in humid and wet environments. Available in fiber counts from 2 to 288, GYTS is the industry-standard choice for underground duct fiber deployment.

The Stranded Loose Tube Armored Fiber Optic Cable GYTS is a versatile outdoor fiber optic cable designed for a wide range of applications. It features a stranded loose tube design and is armored to provide excellent mechanical protection and durability. This cable is commonly used in long-distance communication networks, including aerial, duct, and direct burial installations. The fibers, 250μm, are positioned in a loose tube made of a high modulus plastic. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. A steel wire, sometimes sheathed with polyethylene (PE) for cable with high fiber count, locates in the center of core as a metallic strength member. Tubes (and fillers) are stranded around the strength member into a compact and circular cable core. The PSP is longitudinally applied over the cable core, which is filled with the filling compound to protect it from water ingress. The cable is completed with a PE sheath.

Characteristics

Good mechanical and temperature performance

High strength looes tube that is hydrolysis resistant

Special tube filling compound ensure a critical protection of fiber

Specially designed compact structure is good at preventing loose tubes from shrinking

Crush resistance and flexibility

PE sheath protects cable from ultraviolet radiation

The following measures are taken to ensure the cable watertight:

Steel wire used as the central strength member

Loose tube filling compound

100% cable core filling

PSP enhancing moisture-proof

Standard

Standard YD/T 1155-2001 as well as IEC 60794-1.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between GYTS and GYTA?

GYTS uses a steel wire central strength member and PSP (Polyethylene-Steel-Polyethylene) armor, making it more crush-resistant and suitable for duct installations. GYTA uses aluminum tape armor instead, which is lighter and offers better corrosion resistance but slightly less crush resistance.

2. Can GYTS cable be used for aerial installations?

Yes, GYTS is versatile enough for aerial, duct, and direct burial applications. However, for dedicated aerial installations over long spans, ADSS or figure-8 cables are usually preferred due to their self-supporting design.

3. What fiber types are available for GYTS?

GYTS cables are available with G.652D standard single-mode fibers, G.655 NZ-DSF fibers, and G.657 bending-insensitive fibers. Multi-mode fibers (OM1-OM5) are also available for short-distance data center or enterprise applications.

4. How is the cable protected against water ingress?

GYTS employs a multi-layer water protection system: loose tube filling compound, 100% cable core filling, water-blocking yarns, and PSP longitudinal armor — ensuring reliable performance even in flooded ducts or high-water-table areas.
