Duct Aerial Cable GYFTY

The GYFTY is a fully non-metallic stranded loose tube fiber optic cable designed for aerial installations in high-electromagnetic-interference environments such as power transmission corridors and areas with frequent lightning activity. Its all-dielectric construction (no metallic elements) provides complete immunity to electromagnetic interference and eliminates ground loop risks, making it the ideal choice for installation near high-voltage power lines where metallic cables would be unsafe or require special grounding.

GYFTY fiber optic cable is a non-metallic cable designed for power transmission networks, excessive thunder regions and high electromagnetic interference environments. Its primary use is for aerial or duct applications. The cable’s loose tubes, filled with water-blocking compound, are stranded around the central strength member. A water-blocking tape is applied over the cable core for additional waterproofing, and the cable is completed with a PE outer sheath.

Characteristics

  • Fully non-metallic strength member — immune to electromagnetic interference and lightning
  • Filler rods protect loose tube fibers
  • Excellent anti-electromagnetic capability, no grounding required
  • Water-blocking compound and tape for reliable outdoor performance
  • PE outer sheath with UV protection for long-term outdoor durability

Application

  • Aerial installations along power transmission corridors
  • Duct installations in areas with high electromagnetic interference
  • Railway communication lines
  • Lightning-prone regions where metallic cables would require extensive grounding

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is GYFTY the same as ADSS?

No. GYFTY is a non-metallic cable but requires a separate messenger wire for aerial support — it is not self-supporting. ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) is designed to hang directly between poles/towers without a messenger wire, using aramid yarn strength members integrated into the cable construction.

2. Where is GYFTY typically used?

GYFTY is used in areas with high electromagnetic interference: along railway lines, near power substations, in lightning-prone regions, and in power utility communication networks where metallic cables would require extensive grounding and bonding.
